At the outset, the Yasko Protocol may feel very new. But you don’t have to understand it all to begin or follow the program. You can gradually become familiar with the science behind the program at your own pace.

Autism: Pathways To Recovery

Pathways to RecoveryDr. Amy Yasko’s newest book (published in 2009) provides the foundational understanding of autism, molecular biology, and the genetics that underlie the Yasko Protocol. It also clarifies some of the many contributing factors to the autism epidemic by characterizing autism as a multi-factorial disease. First, identifying the well-known symptoms of autism as characteristic of neurological inflammation, the book goes on to outline a program that addresses inflammation—and detoxification.

The step-by-step treatment approach is designed to walk parents and practitioners through the basics of following the Protocol. It also covers how to customize it based on the Nutrigenomic test results. Understanding the science allows parents and practitioners to make specific choices that define an individualized pathway to recovery for every child.

Pathways incorporates revised and updated content contained in Dr. Yasko’s previous book, The Puzzle of Autism. It also includes additional  information from her PowerPoint presentations, along with posts she created over many years in response to parents’ questions in the Online Discussion Groups. In Pathways, Dr. Amy’s goal was to create a comprehensive and easily readable work that clearly guides you through the Protocol, while giving you the rationale for each step along the way.

The book is available on its own, or with its accompanying Pathways to Recovery workbook. Those actively following the Yasko Protocol will find the workbook very useful. Designed by Dr. Amy with significant input from parents whose children follow the Yasko Protocol,  the large ring-binder style workbook contains many practical tools for implementing program recommendations and keeping track of the process. It also includes sample test results, that show how to read and interpret the biochemical tests, often done as part of the program.
